They were looking for a fern flower or How Kupala was celebrated in Borisov district

On July 5, Ivan Kupala was celebrated in Kishina Sloboda. Since ancient times, the Slavs celebrated this holiday with dances, songs and various rituals. We learned how it is celebrated now.

The celebration began with a concert featuring musical ensembles and dance groups. Folk tunes created a pleasant atmosphere, and dancing raised the spirits. The premiere of a song by one of the ensembles was also performed. The “Bratka Belarus” group performed their new song. Music was heard throughout the evening. Folk songs could be heard until 21:00, and then modern compositions were performed live.

Between the numbers, the artists held interesting interactive activities. Some of them repeated ancient customs.

The main traditions of the Kupala night were also observed: weaving wreaths, searching for a fern flower, lighting a fire. In addition to traditional entertainment, there were also more modern ones, for example, a survey on knowledge of forest herbs. For children, entertainment was available in the form of an inflatable slide and pony rides.

There was a fair with craftsmen’s works on site, where various products were presented. It was possible to buy straw products, wooden and clay dishes, knitted toys, wicker baskets and much more. It was also possible to have a snack.

This evening will definitely be remembered for its sound, fun, traditions and atmosphere.
